Hello YAP students and parents.  We sure had a blast at our last session of the year!  One of our most packed sessions to date, too.  Reading a parents' thank you note after today's session reiterates the fact that this program is destined for greatness. Why? Because all of you wonderful writers are going to grow and mature into adult writers, with written books for all the world to read!  Well, at least, that is my hope :)  I look forward to seeing you all again in 2013!

Hello young authors!  Our July 14th YAP session was pretty packed.  We had two new members and boy, did we have fun!  I informed everyone that I had been approached by Little Pickle Press to have my young authors answer this question...how can one person change the world through writing?  That is what they will be pondering over the next few weeks and submitting for their chance to be PUBLISHED on the LPP blog.  Can't wait to read what they write!

Chapter Books are for Kids

That's right...they are.  And the kids who attended today's YAP session wrote their own!  My challenge?  A full page of fictional writing to start their chapter books that will be continued at the next session in July.  Of course, everyone completed the task. Dreamers

I love what I do!  That is surely no lie.  Today my young authors wrote out their dreams, in verse.  Some of them rhymed, some did not.  The point is, today's group dared to dream on paper about what they hope to be when they grow up.  That's how success starts...with a dream!

Next month we'll be jumping back into fiction, per my young authors' request.  I am more than willing to oblige, as I too am a softy for that genre as well :)

WE'RE BACK!

I know, I know.  You're wondering where I've been the past couple of months, right?  Well, to be quite honest, a lot has happened since my last post.  For starters, I am back to work full-time, which IS a very good thing!  However, I promised to keep you all abreast of where the YAP is headed in 2012, and since today is the very first day of the year, my promise has not been broken!  Unfortunately, sessions will not be resuming until March.  Once I have a definite date, I will let you all know, here.  In the meantime, if you would like the YAP to visit your youth organization, call or email us today at (704) 464-8559 or dorothyhp@gmail.com.
